Production Area
The production area of Villamagna PDO is within the entire territory of the municipality of Villamagna and parts of the municipalities of Bucchianico and Vacri, in the Province of Chieti, in the Abruzzo region.
Description of product typologies
Villamagna PDO is intense ruby red, tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose is fruity and intense; it is dry, full and harmonious on the palate. It can display Riserva on the label after an ageing and maturing period which ends on November 1st of the second year following that of the grape harvest. Villamagna PDO must be aged and matured for a minimum period of time, and can be released for consumption from September 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. The vinification, mandatory ageing, bottling, maturing in the bottle, and packageing processes must take place within the production area; however, these operations may also be carried out within the entire territory of the Abruzzo region.
