The Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI (Weinberg Dolomiten PGI in German) is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, White Spumante, Rosé Spumante, Aromatic Spumante di Qualità, Moscato Giallo Aromatic Spumante di Qualità (grape variety specification), White Passito, Rosé Passito, Red Passito and Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

The production area of Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI is within the entire territory of the autonomous Province of Bolzano, the autonomous Province of Trento and the Province of Belluno, in the Veneto region.
Description of product typologies
Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Bianco is straw-yellow to golden-yellow, at times with greenish or coppery reflections; the nose offers a wide range of floral and fruity fragrances, at times aromatic; it is fresh, smooth and sapid on the palate, with a fruity aftertaste in the dry to sweet wines, and has a good persistent finish. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling wine. Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Rosso is ruby red, varying in intensity and at times with orangey reflections, based on the age of the wine; the nose reveals intense fruity sensations of blueberry, blackcurrant, ripe fruit and berries, with balsamic notes and vegetal variations; it is warm and harmonious on the palate, with a sharp tannic vein that leads to a pleasant, persistent finish, at times slightly bitter in the dry to sweet wines. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling wine. Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Rosato ranges from soft rose-petal-pink to intense coral pink; the nose is evidently floral, offering sensations of small red-berried fruit; it is fresh, harmonious and fruity on the palate, with a good acid backbone that determines the freshness and clean flavour of the dry to sweet wines. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling wine. Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Spumante ranges from straw-yellow to golden yellow, with greenish reflections and a lively, effervescent perlage; the nose is fine and pleasant; it is pleasing on the palate in the dry to sweet wines. Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Spumante Rosè is soft pink and has a lively, effervescent perlage; the nose is fine and pleasant; it is pleasing on the palate in the dry to sweet wines. Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Passito Rosato is pink, varying in intensity and at times with orangey hues; the nose reveals hints of ripe fruit, honey and raisin, with sensations of jammy cakes; it is harmonious on the palate in the dry to sweet wines. If vinified or aged in wood, Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI wines can reveal a typical woody hint.
Grape variety specifications
The Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI with specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of grapes originating from other similarly-coloured unaromatic grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the provinces of Bolzano, Trento and Belluno can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. The Vigneti delle Dolomiti or Weinberg Dolomiten Spumante and Spumante di Qualità PGI with the specification of one of the specified grape varieties, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. For Vigneti delle Dolomiti or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Spumante and quality Spumante wines, reference to the names of two grape varieties is permitted, on the condition that the wine derives exclusively from grapes produced by the two specified varieties and that the minority variety makes up more than 15% of the total. Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI aromatic Spumante di Qualità wine, including those with the name of the Moscato Giallo grape variety in the designation, must be produced exclusively with musts and partially fermented musts obtained from the corresponding grape variety. Reference to the names of the grape varieties from which the wine is obtained is not permitted for Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Vino Passito or Passito. Reference to the names of two of grape varieties is permitted in the designation and presentation of Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI wines, on the condition that the wine derives exclusively from grapes produced by the two specified varieties, and the quantity of grapes produced by each of the two varieties is greater than 15% of the total. Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI Novello wines must be obtained from red grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the corresponding provinces, with Lagrein as the predominant grape variety for the Province of Bolzano, and Lagrein and Teroldego, individually or combined, as the predominant grape varieties for the Province of Trento. Vigneti delle Dolomiti PGI or Weinberg Dolomiten PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
