The Veneto PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, White Passito, Red Passito and Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

The production area of Veneto PGI is within the entire territory of the Veneto region.
Description of product typologies
Veneto PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow, varying in depth; the nose offers intensely fruity sensations that are characteristic of the grape varieties of origin; it is fresh on the palate, offering varying degrees of fruitiness, as well as balsamic and minerally. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling wine and Passito. Veneto PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red, varying in intensity; the nose reveals fragrances of berries, cherry and blackberry, accompanied by balsamic notes; it is well-structured and intense on the palate, with a fruity finish. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling wine, Novello and Passito. Veneto PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is various shades of pink; the nose is rich with flowers, accompanied by fresh ripe fruit and balsamic tones; it is fresh and lively on the palate, with a long fruity finish. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Veneto PGI with specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the provinces of Belluno, Padua, Rovigo, Treviso, Venice, Verona and Vicenza, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. For the production of Cabernet wine, it is also possible to add grapes from the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère grape varieties, individually or combined. Veneto PGI wines with specification of one or two grape varieties can also be produced as semi-sparkling wine; only wines obtained from red grape varieties can be produced as Novello. Veneto PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
Additional specifications
Veneto PGI wines may use the term “Vivace” (slightly sparkling) on the label.
