The Terre Lariane PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, White Passito, Red Passito, Red Novello and Rosè Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.
Production Area
The production area of Terre Lariane PGI is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the provinces of Como and Lecco, in the Lombardy region.
Description of product typologies
Terre Lariane PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow, varying in depth; the nose offers delicately fruity fragrances of peach, green apple, melon and cut hay; it is fresh, harmonious and minerally on the palate, with a long fruity finish. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling and Passito wine. Terre Lariane PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is red; the nose reveals fragrances of small berries, prune, sweet spices, cocoa and coffee; it is full-bodied, ample and sapid on the palate, with evident tannins. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling, Passito and Novello wine. Terre Lariane PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is cherry pink; the nose is reminiscent of pansy, prune and blueberry candy; it is fresh and ample on the palate, with a floral and fruity finish. It can also be produced as semi-sparkling and Novello wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Terre Lariane PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lombardy region can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Terre Lariane PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
