Production Area
The production area of Sebino PGI is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Paratico, Capriolo, Palazzolo sull’Oglio, Adro, Erbusco, Corte Franca, Iseo, Ome, Monticelli Brusati, Rodengo Saiano, Paderno Franciacorta, Passirano, Provaglio d’Iseo, Gussago, Cologne, Coccaglio, Rovato, Cazzago San Martino and Brione, and parts of the municipality of Brescia, all in the Province of Brescia, in the Lombardy region.
Description of product typologies
Sebino PGI Bianco is straw-yellow, varying in depth; the nose offers evolving floral and fruity fragrances reminiscent of apricot, aromatic herbs and broom, accompanied by vegetal notes; it is sapid and pleasantly fresh on the palate, with persistent balsamic undertones. Sebino PGI Rosso is ruby-red, varying in intensity; the nose reveals floral sensations of pansies immersed in aromas of ripe red fruit, spices, cocoa, tobacco and cloves; it is intense, full-bodied and fresh on the palate, with a good tannic vein and at times a long grassy finish. Sebino PGI Passito is golden yellow, varying in intensity; the nose offers fragrances of dried apricot, candied fruit, vanilla, lemon peel and honey; it is warm and smooth on the palate, with a surge of freshness in an almondy finish. Sebino PGI Novello is red, varying in intensity and tending towards purplish; the nose offers aromas of mixed berries, blueberry, violet and mineral salts; it is fruity, smooth and slightly tannic on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Sebino PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lombardy region can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Sebino PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
