Description of product typologies
Rosso Piceno PDO or Piceno PDO Rosso is a beautiful deep ruby-red colour; the nose displays a fragrant array of berries like raspberry, mulberry, blackcurrant and blueberry, which alternate with intense floral sensations of rose and pansy and faint balsamic notes; it is balanced yet complex on the palate, with decisive body, significant structure and a long, persistent finish. It can display Superiore on the label. Rosso Piceno PDO or Piceno PDO Novello is intense ruby red; the nose offers a fragrance of fresh raspberry and wild strawberry; it is dry, harmonious, velvety and full-bodied on the palate, with hints of red fruit in the finish. Rosso Piceno PDO or Piceno PDO Superiore wines, produced only in the Province of Ascoli Piceno, cannot be released for consumption before November 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. If the wine is stored in wooden recipients, the flavour may reveal faint woody hints.
