Description of product typologies
Roccamonfina PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, has a white-straw colour; the nose is delicately fruity, with intense notes of yellow flowers, broom and wisteria; the floral notes return on the palate which is dry and persistent, with a lively fruitiness and sapid notes. It can also be produced as Semi-Sweet and Semi-Sparkling wine. Roccamonfina PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby-red to garnet in colour; the nose is characteristic and intense, with aromas of fruits of the forest enriching the more intense sensations of ageing; it is dry, intense, warm and pleasantly tannic on the palate. It can also be produced as Semi-Sweet, Semi-Sparkling and Novello wine. Roccamonfina PGI Rosé is pink in colour, varying in intensity; the nose displays fruity fragrances of fresh red fruit and intense and crisp floral notes; it is sapid and typical on the palate, with characteristics fruity returns also with the flavour of candy. It can also be produced as Semi-Sweet and Semi-Sparkling wine. Roccamonfina PGI Passito Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is golden yellow in colour; the nose is fruity, intense and persistent; it is extremely well-structured on the palate with an excellent persisting flavour. Roccamonfina PGI Passito Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, has a deep and dark red colour; the nose is intense and extremely persistent; the palate is strongly typical and displays an excellent persisting flavour with evident yet balanced tannins.
Grape variety specifications
The Roccamonfina PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Province of Caserta, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyard compounds, in a business environment, for at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. unaromatic grapes similar in colour and originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%, can contribute, pure or combined, to the production of the above-mentioned musts and wines. Roccamonfina PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the grape variety, as well as the indicated characteristics for the typology of wine.
