Description of product typologies
Riviera del Brenta PDO Bianco is straw-yellow in colour, varying in intensity; the nose displays dense aromas of white and yellow flowers, freshly cut grass and fresh fruit; the palate offers warm and smooth flavours. It can also be produced as Frizzante (Semi-Sparkling) wine. Riviera del Brenta PDO Rosso has a bright ruby-red colour, at times displaying deeper and more intense tones; the nose emanates floral and fruity aromas and with ageing it is possible to detect notes of vanilla, liquorice, roasted seeds, spices and leather; it is structured and smooth on the palate, with smooth to intense tannins and varying persistence. Riviera del Brenta PDO Rosé is pink to vivacious ruby-pink in colour; it is pleasing and delicate on the nose, with intense notes of bitter almond; it is dry and harmonious on the palate, easily drinkable and with a certain character. Riviera del Brenta PDO Spumante is bright straw-yellow in colour and has a fine and lively perlage; the nose is delicately fruity with notes of ripe banana, white peach and hints of roasting; the palate offers notes of baked pastries and vanilla and has a long and persistent finish. Riviera del Brenta PDO Novello is bright ruby-red in colour with purple highlights; the nose has a persistent aroma of fruits of the forest; it is harmonious, fresh, and lively on the palate. Riviera del Brenta PDO Rosé must be obtained from rosé winemaking methods and with red grapes. Riviera del Brenta PDO Spumante and Riviera del Brenta PDO Frizzante wines must be obtained exclusively through natural fermentation in bottles or autoclaves; Semi-Sparkling wines can also be produced as Secco (Dry), Abboccato (Medium-Sweet) and Amabile (Semi-Sweet).
Grape variety specifications
The Riviera del Brenta PDO may display the following grape variety specifications. From white grape varieties: min. 85% Pinot Bianco (incl. Semi-Sparkling, Spumante), Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay (incl. Semi-Sparkling, Spumante), Tai, pure or with the addition of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. From red grape varieties: min. 85% Merlot, Cabernet (Franc and/or Sauvignon and/or Carmenère - incl. Riserva), Raboso (Piave and/or Veronese - incl. Riserva), Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso (incl. Riserva), pure or with the addition of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. The characteristics of the colour, fragrances and flavour of each specification are those typical of the grape variety and terroir of origin. Riviera del Brenta PDO Cabernet, Riviera del Brenta PDO Raboso and Riviera del Brenta PDO Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso wines can display Riserva on the label if the wine has been aged for a minimum period of 2 years, of which at least 6 months must be in wooden barrels, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested.
