The production area of Reno PDO is within the entire territory of numerous municipalities in the provinces of Bologna and Modena, in the Emilia-Romagna region.
Description of product typologies
Reno PDO Bianco is straw-yellow, varying in intensity; the nose reveals floral notes of hawthorn and fruity notes of green apple; it is fresh and slightly sapid on the palate, with a long floral finish. Reno PDO Spumante is straw-yellow, varying in intensity, and has a fine, persistent perlage; the nose is delicate and pleasant, with pleasant floral and fruity notes; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate, with generous sapidity. Reno PDO Frizzante is straw-yellow, varying in intensity, and has fine, lively foam that is sometimes persistent; the nose is delicate and pleasant; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate, and is sapid and harmonious. Only must, partially fermented must or concentrated must originating from grape varieties listed in the Register of designations of origin can be used for the gasification of Reno PDO Frizzante and Spumante wines; rectified grape must is also permitted.
Grape variety specifications
The Reno PDO may display the following grape variety specifications. From white grape varieties: Montuni, min. 85% Montù (incl. Semi-Sparkling, Spumante), pure or with the addition of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. Reno PDO Montuni is straw-yellow; the nose is pleasantly vinous; it has good body and is sapid in the dry, medium-sweet, semi-sweet and sweet wines. Reno PDO Montuni Frizzante is straw-yellow and has fine, lively foam; the nose is vinous and pleasant; it has good body and is sapid in the dry, medium-sweet, semi-sweet and sweet wines. Reno PDO Spumante is straw-yellow and has fine, persistent foam; the nose is vinous and pleasant; it is sapid on the palate and has good body in the dry to sweet wines.
Additional specifications
The Reno PDO designation can be followed by the specification Vigna (Vineyard) with the relative toponym.
