The production area of Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Manduria, Carosino, Monteparano, Leporano, Pulsano, Faggiano, Roccaforzata, San Giorgio Jonico, San Marzano di San Giuseppe, Fragagnano, Lizzano, Sava, Torricella, Maruggio and Avetrana, the district of Talsano and the administrative islands of the municipality of Taranto, situated within the municipalities of Fragagnano and Lizzano, in the Province of Taranto, and the municipalities of Erchie, Oria and Torre S. Susanna in the Province of Brindisi, in the Apulia region.
Description of product typologies
Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale PDO is garnet red with intense crimson reflections; the nose offers evident notes of marasca cherry, prune and black cherry jam, with hints of dried fruit and cocoa in the finish; it is warm, smooth, strong, harmonious and velvety on the palate, with an intense and persistent finish. Grapes destined for the production of Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale PDO wine must have been dried on the vines and/or trellises and/or in crates outdoors, or in environments with controlled temperature and/or humidity and/or forced ventilation. Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale PDO wine cannot be released for consumption before June 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced.
