Description of product typologies
Pergola PDO Rosso is bright ruby red to garnet red; the nose displays notes ranging from spicy to floral, such as rose and pansy, at the same time evoking essences of red fruit and brushwood; it is full, harmonious and well balanced on the palate, with sweet tannins that leave a sensation of roundness and smoothness in the mouth. It can display Superiore and Riserva on the label, the latter only if the wine has been aged for a minimum of 24 months, of which at least 2 months must be maturing in the bottle. The ageing period commences November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested. Pergola PDO Rosato is vivid pink; the nose displays delicate fragrances of small red fruit such as wild strawberry and raspberry, enriched with notes of wild flowers and cut grass; it is fresh and fruity on the palate, perfectly harmonious thanks to a light tannic note and a slightly bitter aftertaste. It can also be produced as a semi-sparkling wine. Pergola PDO Spumante Rosé is vivid pink and has fine-grained, persistent foam; the nose displays evident sweet notes of raspberry, blackberry, pink grapefruit and blood orange, as well as hints of bread crust and faint traces of rose; it is sweet, full, harmonious and lively on the palate, with sweet hints of ripe fruit and toasting. Pergola PDO Novello is ruby red; the nose offers fruity notes of berries and floral hints of rose and pansy; it is fresh, harmonious and lively on the palate, with a long fruity finish. Pergola PDO Spumante Rosso and Pergola PDO Passito Rosso with specification of grape variety have the organoleptic properties that are typical of the grapes and terroir of origin.
