Description
The Parteolla PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé and Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.
Production Area
The production area of Parteolla PGI is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Dolianova, Donori, Monastir, Serdiana, Soleminis and Ussana in the Province of Sud Sardegna, in the Sardinia region.
Description of product typologies
Parteolla PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, ranges from straw-yellow to medium golden-yellow; the nose offers fruity sensations of pear and thyme; it is sapid and mineral on the palate, ranging from dry to sweet depending on the type of wine. It can also be produced as a semi-sparkling wine. Parteolla PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red, tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose is rich with traces of sour cherry and dried roses; it is robust and smooth on the palate, with well-balanced tannins, ranging from dry to sweet depending on the type of wine. It can also be produced as a semi-sparkling wine. Parteolla PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is various shades of pink; the nose offers aromas of dried flowers and cut grass; it is fresh, smooth and fruity on the palate, ranging from dry to sweet depending on the type of wine. It can also be produced as a semi-sparkling wine. Parteolla PGI Novello, alone or with specification of grape variety, is red with purple to ruby red reflections; the nose is fruity, typical of a young wine; in dry to medium-sweet wines the fruity notes of the nose return on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
Parteolla PGI wines with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Sardinia region, with the exception of the Cannonau, Carignano, Girò, Malvasia, Monica, Moscato, Nasco, Nuragus, Semidano, Vermentino and Vernaccia varieties, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Sardinia region can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Parteolla PGI wines with specification of one of the grape varieties can also be produced as a semi-sparkling or Novello wine, the latter only for wines obtained from red grape varieties. Parteolla PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
