The production area of Ortona PDO is within the territory of the municipality of Ortona in the Province of Chieti, in the Abruzzo region.
Description of product typologies
Ortona PDO Bianco is straw-yellow, at times with faint greenish hues; the nose offers floral notes and fruity notes of white peach; it is fresh and sapid on the palate, with light minerally notes. Ortona PDO Rosso is ruby red with purplish reflections; the nose offers evident fragrances of red fruit, particularly cherry, with delicate spicy notes; it is dry and full-bodied on the palate, with a slightly tannic sensation and a balanced finish. Ortona PDO Bianco wines cannot be released for consumption before January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. Ortona PDO Rosso wines can be releases for consumption from March 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced.
