The production area of Montenetto di Brescia PGI is within the territory of the municipalities of Azzano Mella, Borgosatollo, Capriano del Colle, Castenedolo, Flero, Poncarale in the Province of Brescia, in the Lombardy region.
Description of product typologies
Montenetto di Brescia PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow, varying in depth; the nose offers varying degrees of fruity fragrances depending on the grape variety used; it is dry, fresh and sapid on the palate, with a slightly fruity flavour and good persistence. It can also be produced as a semi-sparkling wine. Montenetto di Brescia PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red with garnet red reflections; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit and traces of spices and aromatic herbs, revealing an aromatic complexity deriving from the grape varieties used; it is dry, sapid, full-bodied and pleasantly tannic on the palate. Montenetto di Brescia PGI Novello, alone or with specification of grape variety, is bright ruby red with possible purplish reflections; the nose is pleasant with characteristic fruity notes; it is pleasantly fresh and harmonious on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Montenetto di Brescia PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lombardy region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Montenetto di Brescia PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
