The production area of Martina PDO or Martina Franca PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Martina Franca and Crispiano in the Province of Taranto, Alberobello in the Province of Bari, and parts of Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni in the Province of Brindisi, in the Apulia region.
Description of product typologies
Martina PDO or Martina Franca PDO Bianco is straw-yellow to greenish-yellow; the nose bursts with delicately fruity fragrances on a background of aromatic herbs and faint spicy hints; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with a sapid finish and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Martina PDO or Martina Franca PDO Spumante is straw-yellow, at times acquiring greenish or golden reflections, and has a fine and persistent perlage; the nose displays evident fruity fragrances of apple and plum, with remarkably fresh vegetal notes and a dense component of yeast and bread crust; the attack on the palate is pleasantly sapid and lively, giving this wine its character, complimented by a well-balanced, harmonious flavour that leads to a sapid, fairly persistent finish and an aftertaste offering hints of fresh white fleshy fruit.
