The Marche PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, White Spumante, Red Spumante, Rosé Spumante, White Passito, Red Passito, Rosé Passito, White Uve Stramature (overripe grapes), Red Uve Stramature, Rosé Uve Stramature, White Novello, Red Novello and Rosé Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

Description of product typologies
Marche PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of variety, is straw-yellow; the nose is floral and fruity based on the grape varieties used; it is dry and slightly fruity on the palate. It can also be a semi-sparkling or sweet filtered wine. Marche PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of variety, is ruby red; the nose is delicate, with fragrances of red fruit, spices and aromatic herbs, revealing a balsamic complexity deriving from the grape varieties used; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body and at times evident tannins. It can also be a semi-sparkling or sweet filtered wine. Marche PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of variety, is pink; it displays fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate. It can also be a semi-sparkling or sweet filtered wine. Marche PGI Spumante Bianco (di Qualità), alone or with specification of variety, is soft straw-yellow; the nose is pleasant and fragrant in the aromatic type; it is fresh and dry on the palate. It can also be an aromatic wine. Marche PGI Spumante Rosso (di Qualità), alone or with specification of variety, is red; the nose is pleasant and fresh; it is harmonious and dry on the palate. It can also be an aromatic wine. Marche PGI Spumante Rosé (di Qualità), alone or with specification of variety, is pink; the nose is rich with pleasant floral notes; it is dry and harmonious on the palate. It can also be an aromatic wine. Marche PGI Passito Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is golden yellow; the nose is pleasant and delicate; it is sweet and warm on the palate. It can also be an overripe grape wine. Marche PGI Passito Rosso, alone or with specification of variety, ranges from red to purple; the nose is characteristic of the grape variety used; it is sweet, warm and embracing on the palate. It can also be an overripe grape wine. Marche PGI Passito Rosato, alone or with specification of variety, is dark pink; the nose is intense and reveals the characteristics of the grape variety used; it is fairly sweet and warm on the palate. It can also be an overripe grape wine. Marche PGI Novello Bianco, alone or with specification of variety, is white, varying in intensity; the nose bursts with delicate floral notes; it is intense and embracing on the palate. Marche PGI Novello Rosso, alone or with specification of variety, is bright red; the nose displays fragrances of flowers; it is fresh and pleasant on the palate. Marche PGI Novello Rosato, alone or with specification of variety, is pink, varying in intensity; the nose offers delicate floral fragrances; the floral notes return on the palate, offering a fresh and pleasant flavour.
Grape variety specifications
The Marche PGI with specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Marche region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Marche PGI with specification of two grape varieties is reserved for the following types of wine: Spumante di Qualità, Aromatic Spumante di Qualità, Semi-Sparkling, partially fermented grape Musts, wines obtained from Dried Grapes, wines made from Overripe Grapes (or Passito wines), obtained from grapes from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of the corresponding varieties, on the condition that the wine derives exclusively from grapes produced by the two specified varieties; the quantity of grapes produced by each of the two varieties must in any case be greater than 15% of the total. The grape variety specifications must appear on the label in descending order with respect to the actual percentage of grapes obtained from them. Marche PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
