The production area of Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Albugnano, Castelnuovo don Bosco, Passerano Marmorito, Pino d’Asti, Berzano S. Pietro and Moncucco Torinese in the Province of Asti, in the Piedmont region.
Description of product typologies
Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco PDO Rosso is bright cherry-red; the nose bursts with delicate fruity and floral aromas, with notes of rose and raspberry and at times iris, wisteria and berries; it is pleasantly sweet, fresh and harmonious on the palate, with good aromatic persistence that is complimented by fruity notes and delicate tannins in the finish. When released for consumption and uncorked, Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco PDO Rosso wines may be subject to the development of carbon dioxide, which derives exclusively from fermentation, as the wine – stored in closed recipients at a temperature of 20 °C, has an overpressure of no more than 1.8 bar. Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco PDO Spumante is pink, varying in intensity, and has fine and persistent foam; the fragrant aroma of the grape bursts on the nose with delicately fruity notes; it is sweet and slightly aromatic on the palate.
