The production area of Malvasia di Bosa PDO is within parts of the territory of the municipalities of Bosa, Suni, Tinnura, Flussio, Magomadas, Tresnuraghes and Modolo in the Province of Oristano, in the Sardinia region.
Description of product typologies
Malvasia di Bosa PDO Bianco (“Amabile” - Semi-Sweet or “Dolce” - Sweet) is straw-yellow or golden-yellow, varying in intensity; the nose opens with complex fragrances of ripe white fruity notes and floral sensations, blending with traces of antique wood, dried fruit and balsamic hints; it is dry and smooth on the palate, with a background of almond and roasted hazelnuts. It can display Riserva on the label if the wine has undergone a minimum ageing period of 2 years, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced, of which at least 1 year must be in wooden barrels. Malvasia di Bosa PDO Spumante is straw-yellow and has a fine, persistent perlage; the nose is characteristic of the grapes, with aromatic notes and hints of white fruit and fresh flowers; it is sweet on the palate, with significant freshness and pleasantly aromatic notes. Malvasia di Bosa PDO Passito is amber, varying in intensity; the nose is complex, with intense aromas of ripe fruit and marmalade and sensations of dried apricot; it is embracing and mellow on the palate, with an almondy finish. For Malvasia di Bosa PDO Passito wines the grapes may be dried in suitable environments; partial dehydration with forced air or in special temperature-controlled rooms is permitted. Malvasia di Bosa PDO Amabile or Dolce wines can be released for consumption from March 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced; Malvasia di Bosa PDO Spumante can be released for consumption from November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced; Malvasia di Bosa PDO Passito cannot be released for consumption before April 1st of the year following that of the grape harvest.
