Description of product typologies
Malvasia delle Lipari PDO Bianco is intense golden yellow; the nose is severe, with aromatic notes and hints of dried broom; it is full and fragrant on the palate, offering the sweetness of ripe fruit. Malvasia delle Lipari PDO can also qualify as Dolce Naturale wine (Natural Sweet). Malvasia delle Lipari PDO Passito is ambery-yellow; the nose reveals fragrances of apricot jam, honey, dried fruit and sweet spices on a vegetal background; is full-bodied, smooth and embracing on the palate, with a sweetness balanced by sapidity and a long, balsamic finish. Malvasia delle Lipari PDO Liquoroso is deep honey-yellow; the nose is intense with alcoholic notes, revealing fruity fragrances reminiscent of apricot and peach; it is smooth, warm, aromatic and persistent on the palate. The production method of Malvasia delle Lipari PDO Passito involves the vinification of grapes that have been dried either entirely or partially on the vines (Late Harvest); it is also possible for the grapes to be partially dried after the harvest for 10-15 days, on trellises made of strips of reeds, in the sun or suitable environments. Malvasia delle Lipari PDO Passito wines cannot be released for consumption before June 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. Alcohol and/or wine spirit is added during the production of Malvasia delle Lipari PDO Liquoroso wines; before being released for consumption, the wine must have a minimum alcohol level of 20% vol. and have been matured for 6 months, commencing on the date of alcoholisation.
