Description of product typologies
Malanotte del Piave PDO or Piave Malanotte PDO is intense ruby red with purplish reflections, tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose displays evident notes of marasca cherry, blackberry, cherry and blueberry, and with ageing it is possible to also perceive aromas of mint and eucalyptus and spicy hints; it is severe and sapid on the palate, with good structure and a pleasant aromatic persistence. Grapes destined for the production of Malanotte del Piave PDO or Piave Malanotte PDO wines must be dried, also with the aid of air-conditioning systems, on the condition that they operate at a similar temperature to that found during traditional drying processes; grapes destined for drying cannot be pressed before November 15th. Malanotte del Piave PDO or Piave Malanotte PDO wine can only be released for consumption after being aged for a minimum period of 36 months, of which at least 12 months must be in barrels and 4 in the bottle; the ageing period commences November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested.
