The Isola dei Nuraghi PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, White Spumante, Red Spumante, Rosè Spumante, White Passito, Red Passito, White from Uve Stramature (overripe grapes), Red from Uve Stramature, and Novello. The Designation also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

Description of product typologies
Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of variety, is paper-white to amber-yellow; the nose offers various degrees of floral and fruity fragrances, based on the grape varieties used; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate, and is fresh, slightly fruity and persistent. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of variety, is ruby red; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, aromatic herbs and balsamic complexity deriving from the various grape varieties used; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate, and is crisp, sapid, with good body and at times evident tannins. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of variety, is pink; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape varieties of origin. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Spumante Bianco, alone or with specification of variety, is paper-white to yellow and has a fine, persistent perlage; the nose is characteristic of the grape varieties used; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Rosè Spumante, alone or with specification of variety, ranges from pale pink to deep pink and has fine, persistent foam; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Spumante Rosso, alone or with specification of variety, is ruby red and has thin, persistent foam; the nose offers fragrances that are typical of the grape varieties used; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Passito Bianco, alone or with specification of variety, is various shades of yellow, right through to amber; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Passito Rosso, alone or with specification of variety, ranges from pale ruby red to garnet red, tending towards orangey-red with ageing; the nose is characteristic; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Bianco da Uve Stramature, alone or with specification of variety, is various shades of yellow, right through to amber; the nose is characteristic; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate. Isola dei Nuraghi Rosso da Uve Stramature, alone or with specification of variety, varies from pale ruby red to garnet-red, tending towards orangey-red with ageing; the nose is characteristic; it ranges from dry to sweet on the palate. Isola dei Nuraghi PGI Novello, alone or with specification of variety, varies from red with purple reflections to ruby red; the nose is characteristic of a young wine; it ranges from dry to slightly sweet on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Isola dei Nuraghi PGI with specification of one of the varieties suitable for cultivation in the Sardinia region, excluding the Cannonau, Girò, Nasco, Nuragus and Semidano grape varieties, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. The Isola dei Nuraghi PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
