The production area of Garda Colli Mantovani PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Castiglione delle Stiviere, Cavriana, Monzambano, Ponti sul Mincio, Solferino and Volta Mantovana in the Province of Mantua, in the Lombardy region.
Description of product typologies
Garda Colli Mantovani PDO Bianco ranges from greenish-yellow to golden yellow; the nose is fresh, harmonious, delicate and characteristic, at times floral; it is dry, harmonious and sapid on the palate. Garda Colli Mantovani PDO Rosso is intense ruby red, at times tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose is characteristic, ranging from fruity to spicy; it is dry, elegant, characteristic and persistent on the palate. Garda Colli Mantovani PDO Rosato ranges from pale pink to pink, varying in intensity; the elegant fragrance reveals fruity and floral notes; it is dry, fresh, elegant and sapid on the palate. Garda Colli Mantovani PDO Rosso Superiore and Garda Colli Mantovani PDO Bianco Passito must be released for consumption from January 1st of the second year following the year in which the grapes were produced, after a period of fermentation and secondary fermentation up until June 30th of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. Garda Colli Mantovani Protected Designation of Origin Riserva wines must undergo a minimum ageing period of two years, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced, at least six months of which must be in the bottle for Red wine and one year for White wine.
