The Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, Red Passito and Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

The production area of Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI is within the territory of the Province of Frosinone, in the Lazio region.
Description of product typologies
Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is yellow, at times golden or greenish; the nose displays varying degrees of fruity fragrances, based on the different types of grape variety used; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with a slightly fruity flavour and good persistence. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red, varying in intensity and tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, traces of spices and aromatic herbs and a balsamic complexity deriving from the different types of grape variety used; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body and at times evident tannins. It can also be semi-sparkling or Novello wine. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI Rosé, alone or with specification of grape variety, is cherry-pink, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape varieties of origin. It can also be semi-sparkling or Passito wine. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI Passito Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is red, varying in intensity and tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose offers fruity hints; it is sweet and harmonious on the palate.
Grape variety specifications
The Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lazio region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI wine must be obtained from at least 85% grapes originating from the Cesanese Comune and/or Cesanese di Affile grape varieties; a maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lazio region can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned wine. The Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI with specification of two or three grape varieties is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of the corresponding grape varieties, on the condition that the wine derives exclusively from the specified grape varieties and that the specifications appear on the label in descending order with respect to the actual percentage of grapes obtained from them. Frusinate PGI or del Frusinate PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
