The production area of Fiano di Avellino PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Avellino, Lapio, Atripalda, Cesinali, Aiello del Sabato, S. Stefano del Sole, Sorbo Serpico, Salza Irpina, Parolise, S. Potito Ultra, Candida, Manocalzati, Pratola Serra, Montefredane, Grottolella, Capriglia Irpina, S. Angelo a Scala, Summonte, Mercogliano, Forino, Contrada, Monteforte Irpino, Ospedaletto D’Alpinolo, Montefalcione, S, Lucia di Serino and S. Michele di Serino, in the Province of Avellino, in the Campania region.
Description of product typologies
Fiano di Avellino PDO is straw-yellow, varying in intensity; the aromatic bouquet on the nose offers notes of hazelnut, almond, rosemary, medlar and aromatic herbs; it is dry, fresh and harmonious on the palate. It can display Riserva on the label if the wine has undergone a minimum ageing period of at least 12 months, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced. Grapes destined for vinification must ensure that Fiano di Avellino PDO and Fiano di Avellino PDO Riserva wines have a minimum natural alcohol content of 11.5% vol. And 12% vol., respectively.
