Description of product typologies
Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba PDO or Diano d’Alba PDO is intense ruby red with purplish reflections; marasca cherry and at times blackberry stand out on the floral and fruity nose, followed by a delicate white peppery finish and possible hints of wood; it is dry and tense on the palate, influenced by a varietal aftertaste of bitter almond and faint minerally sensations. After a minimum ageing period of 10 months, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested, Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba PDO or Diano d’Alba PDO wines with a slighter higher alcohol content can display Superiore on the label. Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba PDO or Diano d’Alba PDO wines can be released for consumption from January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced; Superiore wines can be released for consumption from September 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were harvested.
Geographical and sub-area specifications
