Description of product typologies
Dolcetto d’Asti PDO is vivid ruby red; the nose displays aromas of red fruit with evident notes of cherry, accompanied by significant intensity and a harmonious fragrance, leading to a typical almondy finish; it is dry on the palate, with fruity and slightly tannic notes, creating a light and easily drinkable wine. It can display Superiore on the label if it has undergone a minimum ageing period of one year, commencing January 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced. Grapes destined for the vinification of Dolcetto d’Asti PDO wines must ensure a minimum natural alcohol level of 11% vol., while the minimum natural alcohol level for Dolcetto d’Asti PDO Superiore wines must be 12% vol. The vinification and ageing processes of Dolcetto d’Asti PDO wines must be carried out within the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, Cuneo, Turin, Genoa, Savona and Imperia.
