Description
The Trevenezie PGI ("Tri Benečije PGI" in Slovenian) is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé (incl. Semi-Sparkling) and Red Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.
Production Area
The production area of Trevenezie PGI is within the entire territory of the provinces of Belluno, Padua, Rovigo, Treviso, Venice, Verona and Vicenza, in the Veneto region, and the provinces of Pordenone, Udine, Gorizia and Trieste in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
Description of product typologies
Trevenezie PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is straw-yellow, varying in depth; the nose offers various floral and fruity sensations, based on the grape variety used; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with good aromatic persistence. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Trevenezie PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, offering characteristic fragrances of red fruit and traces of spices and aromatic herbs, as well as characteristics deriving from the grape varieties used ; it is dry and sapid on the palate, at times displaying evident tannins, and has good body. It can also be semi-sparkling and Novello wine. Trevenezie PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape varieties of origin. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Trevenezie PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Province of Trento and the Veneto region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes unaromatic originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. The Trevenezie PGI with the specification of one or more grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes unaromatic originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the provinces of Udine, Pordenone, Gorizia and Trieste can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Trevenezie PGI wines with specification of one of the grape varieties may also be produced as semi-sparkling and Novello wines, exclusively with red grape varieties. Trevenezie PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
