The Del Vastese or Histonium PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, White Passito, Red Passito, Red Novello and Rosé Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.

Description of product typologies
Del Vastese or Histonium PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pale to intense straw-yellow; the nose offers different sensations of flowers and fruit, based on the grape varieties used; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with a slightly fruity flavour and good persistence. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Del Vastese or Histonium PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit, traces of spices and aromatic herbs, and the elegance of the various grape varieties used; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body and at times evident tannins. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Del Vastese or Histonium PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape varieties of origin. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Del Vastese or Histonium PGI Passito Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is yellow, tending towards amber with ageing; the nose offers intense fruity hints; it is dry and sapid on the palate. Del Vastese or Histonium PGI Passito Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is red to garnet red, varying in depth; the nose is intense, with the characteristic fragrances of the grape variety used; it is harmonious, sweet and velvety on the palate. Del Vastese or Histonium PGI Novello Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red with faint purplish reflections; it offers a fruity fragrance on the nose; it is harmonious, fresh and velvety on the palate. Del Vastese or Histonium PGI Novello Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink, varying in intensity; it displays intense fruity aromas on the nose; the flavour is velvety and full of freshness.
Grape variety specifications
The Del Vastese or Histonium PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Abruzzo region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding varieties. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. The Del Vastese or Histonium PGI with specification of two grape varieties is reserved for wines obtained from grapes from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of the corresponding varieties, on the condition that the wine derives exclusively from grapes produced by the two specified varieties; the quantity of grapes produced by each of the two varieties must in any case be greater than 15% of the total, and the grape variety specifications must appear on the label in descending order with respect to the actual percentage of grapes obtained from them. Del Vastese or Histonium PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
