Production Area
The production area of Curtefranca PDO is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Paratico, Capriolo, Adro, Erbusco, Corte Franca, Iseo, Ome, Monticelli Brusati, Rodengo Saiano, Paderno Franciacorta, Passirano, Provaglio d’Iseo, Cellatica Gussago, and parts of the municipalities of Brescia, Cologne, Coccaglio, Rovato and Cazzago San Martino, all in the Province of Brescia, in the Lombardy region.
Description of product typologies
Curtefranca PDO Bianco is intense straw-yellow; the nose is reminiscent of ripe apple and exotic fruit; it is sapid and harmonious on the palate, with good persistence. It can display the specification Vigna (vineyard) on the label after a mandatory ageing period in wood and three months maturing in the bottle. Curtefranca PDO Bianco cannot be released for consumption before February 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced, and Curtefranca PDO Bianco Vigna not before September 1st. Curtefranca PDO Rosso is intense ruby red; the nose is complex with fragrances of red fruit, brushwood and hints of leather; it is smooth on the palate, with delicate tannins and a finish full of fruity and spicy aromas. It can display Vigna (vineyard) on the label after a mandatory ageing period of eight months in wood and six months maturing in the bottle. Curtefranca PDO Rosso can be released for consumption after July 1st of the year following that of the harvest, and Curtefranca PDO Rosso Vigna not before September 1st of the second year following that in which the grapes were produced.
