Production Area
The production area of Costa Etrusco Romana PGI is within the territory of the municipalities of Cerveteri, Ladispoli, S. Marinella, Fiumicino and Tolfa in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region.
Description of product typologies
Costa Etrusco Romana PGI Bianco is yellow, at times tending towards golden or greenish; the floral and fruity notes on the nose are accompanied by sweet, smooth undertones in more structured wines; it is dry to sweet on the palate, with fruity flavours creating a sensation of freshness and sapidity. Costa Etrusco Romana PGI Rosso is ruby red, varying in intensity and tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose displays traces of red fruit, supported by delicate tannins; it is fresh and full-bodied on the palate, with fruity undertones.
Grape variety specifications
The Costa Etrusco Romana PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Lazio region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Costa Etrusco Romana PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
