The production area of Conselvano PGI is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of Padua, in the Veneto region.
Description of product typologies
Conselvano PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is characterised by the complexity of its fragrances and varies from white to pale yellow with greenish reflections to deep yellow; the nose offers delicate fruity and floral notes that in the more structured wines are accompanied by sweet, smooth sensations; it is fruity on the palate, creating a sensation of freshness and sapidity. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Conselvano PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pale ruby red to garnet red with purplish reflections; the nose can offer extremely elegant fragrances which express the distinctiveness of the grape variety, with sensations of red fruit supported by delicate tannins; it is fresh and full-bodied on the palate, with fruity undertones. It can also be a semi-sparkling or Novello wine. Conselvano PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink; the nose reveals delicate traces of fresh fruit and aromatic herbs; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Conselvano PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in Province of Padua, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Grapes from the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère grape varieties may be used, pure or combined, to make Cabernet wine. Conselvano PGI wines with the specification of one or two of the grape varieties may also be produced as semi-sparkling wine; wines deriving exclusively from red grape varieties can also be produced as Novello. Conselvano PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
