The production area of Colline Novaresi PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of Novara, in the Piedmont region.
Description of product typologies
Colline Novaresi PDO Bianco is straw-yellow in colour, with greenish highlights; the nose displays intense and persistent fragrances, with floral and fruity notes of acacia flower and pineapple; it is intense on the palate, mainly fruity, specifically peach and melon. Colline Novaresi PDO Rosso has a ruby-red colour with hues of varying intensity; the nose is characterised by notes of dried fruit and flowers, leading to sensations of liquorice; it is full-bodied and balanced on the palate, with smooth tannins and a prevalence of fruit. Colline Novaresi PDO Rosé is pink in colour, varying in intensity; the nose is persistent with floral and fruity notes; it is harmonious, full and balanced on the palate. Colline Novaresi PDO Novello ranges from various shades of pink to red in colour; the nose offers delicate fragrances of pansy, rose and red fruit, which are entwined with a slightly alcoholic yet persistent structure; the sensations of the nose return on the palate, enriched with intensity, smoothness and balance.
Grape variety specifications
The Colline Novaresi PDO may display the following grape variety specifications. From red grape varieties: min. 85% Barbera, Nebbiolo (Spanna), Uva Rara (Bonarda Novarese), Vespolina, Croatina, pure or with the addition of similarly-coloured unaromatic grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. The characteristics of the colour, fragrances and flavour of each specification are those typical of the grape variety and terroir of origin.
