Description of product typologies
Colline del Genovesato PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is yellow, varying in intensity; it is delicate on the nose, with varying degrees of floral and fruity fragrances, depending on the different grape varieties used; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with a slightly fruity flavour. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Colline del Genovesato PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, displaying characteristic fragrances of red fruit, traces of spices and aromatic herbs and an aromatic elegance deriving from the various grape varieties used; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Colline del Genovesato PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity fragrances on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape varieties of origin. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Colline del Genovesato PGI Passito Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red; it is intense and persistent on the nose; balanced on the palate. Colline del Genovesato PGI Novello, alone or with specification of grape variety, is ruby red, varying in intensity; it is vinous on the nose; the palate is fresh and balanced.
Grape variety specifications
The Colline del Genovesato PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties Granaccia and Pigato suitable for cultivation in the Liguria region, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Colline del Genovesato PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
