The production area of Colli Trevigiani PGI is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of Treviso, in the Veneto region.
Description of product typologies
Colli Trevigiani PGI Bianco, alone or with specification of grape variety, is yellow, varying in depth depending on the grape variety used, with pale straw-yellow hues and greenish reflections; the nose displays notes which are typical of the grape varieties and at times reveals floral notes; the flavour is that of a structured wine, with evident sapidity and persistence. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Colli Trevigiani PGI Rosso, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pale red, which darkens into ruby red and at times garnet red; depending on the areas and grape varieties, the nose can either display hints of fruit and bush berries or grassy notes; depending on the grape varieties, the fruity notes return on the palate, and the length of maturation determines the structure and sapidity. It is also fresh on the palate, with a full flavour, good tannins and good acidic balance. It can also be a semi-sparkling or Novello wine. Colli Trevigiani PGI Rosato, alone or with specification of grape variety, is pink, varying in intensity; the nose displays delicate fruity fragrances; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with the characteristics of the grape variety of origin. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Colli Trevigiani PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Province of Treviso, is reserved for wines obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. Grapes originating from the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère grape varieties may be used, pure or combine, to make Cabernet wine. The Colli Trevigiani PGI with the specification of one or two of the grape varieties can also be produced as a semi-sparkling or Novello wine, the latter being made exclusively with red grape varieties. Colli Trevigiani PGI wines with specification of grape variety must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
