Description of product typologies
Colli Romagna Centrale PDO Bianco can be various different shades of straw-yellow; the nose is intense, delicate and fruity; it is dry, sapid and harmonious on the palate. Colli Romagna Centrale PDO Rosso is deep ruby red; the nose displays a pleasantly grassy fragrance; it is dry and full-bodied on the palate, at times slightly tannic. It may display Riserva on the label if it has undergone a minimum ageing period of 24 months, which can also be in wooden barrels.
Grape variety specifications
The Colli Romagna Centrale PDO may display the following grape variety specifications. From white grape varieties: 100% Chardonnay (incl. Riserva); Trebbiano: min. 85% Trebbiano Romagnolo, pure or with the addition of unaromatic white grapes suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. From red grape varieties: 100% Sangiovese (incl. Riserva), min. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, pure or with the addition of red grapes suitable for cultivation in the concerned area, max. 15%. The characteristics of the colour, fragrances and flavour of each specification are those typical of the grape variety and terroir of origin. Colli Romagna Centrale PDO Sangiovese and Colli Romagna Centrale PDO Cabernet Sauvignon qualify as Riserva wines if they have undergone a minimum ageing period of 24 months, also in wooden barrels. Colli Romagna Centrale PDO Chardonnay may display Riserva on the label if the wine has undergone a minimum ageing period of 15 months, also in wooden barrels.
