Lazzaro di Savena, Valsamoggia and Zola Predosa in the Province of Bologna, and in the Municipality of Savignano sul Panaro in the Province of Modena, in the Emilia-Romagna region.

Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto PDO Frizzante is straw-yellow and has fine, persistent foam; it is slightly aromatic on the nose with a floral fragrance of hawthorn flowers and hints of fairly unripe yellow fruit like pear and apple; it is dry, harmonious, fresh and acidulous on the palate, with a citrusy finish, at times slightly bitter. Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto PDO Spumante is straw-yellow, varying in intensity and at times bright, with a fine, persistent perlage; it is slightly aromatic on the nose, elegant, with floral fragrances of hawthorn flowers, Lily of the Valley and Jasmin, and hints of fairly unripe yellow fruit like pear and apple, more intense in the quality spumante wine; it is sapid, harmonious, fresh and acidulous on the palate, with a citrusy finish in wines ranging from brut nature to extra dry. Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto PDO Superiore is medium straw-yellow, at times with greenish or bright reflections; it is elegant on the nose, with floral notes of Lily of the Lalley and Jasmin and ripe yellow fruit like apple and pear, at times also pineapple; It is dry and mouth-filling on the palate, harmonious, with hints of almond and citrus fruit, at times slightly bitter. Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto PDO Superiore can be accompanied by the specification Classico. Colli Bolognesi Classico Pignoletto PDO wines can only be released for consumption after April 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced, while the date for Superiore Classico wines is October 4th, following 2 months maturing in the bottle. The production area of Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto PDO Superiore Classico is within the territory of the municipalities of Monte San Pietro, Casalecchio di Reno, Sasso Marconi, Valsamoggia and Zola Predosa in the Province of Bologna, and part of the municipality of Savignano sul Panaro in the province of Modena, in the Emilia Romagna region.
