Production Area
The production area of Cisterna d’Asti PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Antignano, Cantarana, Cisterna d’Asti, Ferrere, San Damiano d’Asti and San Martino Alfieri in the Province of Asti, and those of Canale, Castellinaldo, Govone, Monta’, Monteu Roero’, Santo Stefano Roero and Vezza d’Alba in the Province of Cuneo, in the Piedmont region.
Description of product typologies
Cisterna d’Asti PDO wine is intense ruby-red in colour; the nose offers fruity fragrances of blackberry and blackcurrant and floral aromas of pansy and rose; it is warm and fruity on the palate, with pleasant balsamic notes in the finish. It can display Superiore on the label if the wine has undergone a minimum ageing period of 10 months, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced.

The Cisterna d’Asti PDO designiation can be followed by the specification Vigna (Vineyard) with the relative toponyme.
