The production area of Casteller PDO is within the territory of 47 municipalities in the Autonomous Province of Trento.
Description of product typologies
Casteller PDO is ruby red, tending towards garnet red with ageing; the nose expresses a concentration of red fruit and berries, and is balsamic and spicy; it is warm and embracing on the palate, fresh, with intense fruity notes and delicate hints of almond. It is possible to enrich Casteller Protected Designation of Origin wines with concentrated musts obtained from grapes belonging to the grape varieties indicated for the Designation, rectified concentrated must, or must obtained through freeze-concentration technology or other permitted technologies.
