The production area of Casavecchia di Pontelatone PDO is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Liberi and Formicola, and part of the territory of the municipalities of Pontelatone, Caiazzo, Castel di Sasso, Castel Campagnano, Piana di Monte Verna and Ruviano, in the Province of Caserta, in the Campania region.
Description of product typologies
Casavecchia di Pontelatone PDO is bright ruby red; it is ample and complex on the nose, with fragrances ranging from ripe cherry to leather, liquorice root and a wide array of spices; it offers generous persistence on the palate, with the same fruity and spicy aromas of the nose. It can display Riserva on the label. Casavecchia di Pontelatone PDO wine must undergo a mandatory ageing period of at least two years, of which at least one year must be in wood; the Riserva wines must be aged for at least three years, of which at least 18 months must be in wood. The ageing period commences November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced.
