The production area of Cannellino di Frascati PDO is within the entire territory of the municipalities of Frascati, Grottaferrata, Monte Porzio Catone, and parts of Rome and Montecompatri, in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region.
Description of product typologies
Cannellino di Frascati PDO is intense golden yellow; the nose displays typical fragrances of ripe fruit, in particular peach, apricot, pear and apple, with hints of honey that accentuate the wine’s semi-sweet personality; the attack is smooth on the palate, with a moderately tart evolution, a slightly bitter finish, excellent balance and a smooth flavour. Grapes destined for the production of Cannellino di Frascati Protected Designation of Origin wine must ensure a minimum natural alcohol level of 12% vol. Vinification must take place within the production area of the grapes; however, taking into consideration local needs linked to urbanisation and the safeguarding of existing local traditions, vinification may also take place in parts of the municipality of Montecompatri.
