The Camarro PGI is reserved for the following types of wine: White, Red, Rosé and Novello. The Indication also incorporates numerous grape variety specifications.
Production Area
The production area of Camarro PGI is within the territory of the municipality of Partanna in the Province of Trapani, in the Sicily region.
Description of product typologies
Camarro PGI Bianco is straw-yellow, varying in intensity; the nose is floral and fruity, varying in intensity depending on the different grape varieties used; it is dry and fresh on the palate, with a slightly fruity flavour and good persistence. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine. Camarro PGI Rosso is ruby-red, varying in intensity; the nose is delicate, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit and hues of spices and aromatic herbs deriving from the various grape varieties; it is dry and sapid on the palate, at times with evident tannins, and has good body. It can also be a semi-sparkling and Novello wine. Camarro PGI Rosato is pink, varying in intensity, tending towards cherry red; it is delicately fruity on the nose; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate. It can also be a semi-sparkling wine.
Grape variety specifications
The Camarro PGI with the specification of one of the grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the Sicily region, is reserved for wines that are obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of at least 85% of the corresponding grape variety. A maximum of 15% of similarly-coloured grapes originating from other grape varieties suitable for cultivation in the concerned area can be used, pure or combined, to produce the above-mentioned musts and wines. The Camarro PGI with two grape variety specifications is reserved for wines (including semi-sparkling) obtained from grapes originating from vineyards on the producer’s land made up of the corresponding varieties, on the condition that the wine derives exclusively from the specified grapes, and that the quantity of grapes produced by each of the two varieties is higher than 15% of the total. The specification of the grape varieties must appear on the label in descending order with respect to the actual percentage of grapes obtained from them. Camarro PGI wines with grape variety specification must display the organoleptic properties of the specified grape variety, as well as the specific characteristics indicated for wines of the same colour.
