Production Area
The production area of Bramaterra PDO is within the territory of the municipalities of Masserano, Brusnengo, Curino, Villa del Bosco and Sostegno in the Province of Biella, and Roasio and Lozzolo in the Province of Vercelli, in the Piedmont region.
Description of product typologies
Bramaterra PDO is vivid garnet-red in colour; the nose is distinguished by fruity, spicy and blueberry jam-like fragrances, with balsamic notes; the fruit blends delicately with liquorice and spices on the palate, with warm minerality and a sapid finish. It can display Riserva on the label. Bramaterra PDO must have undergone an ageing period of 22 months, 18 of which must be in wood, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested; Bramaterra PDO Riserva must have undergone an ageing period of 34 months, 24 of which must be in wood, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested. Bramaterra PDO wines can be released for consumption from September 1st of the second following that in which the grape were harvested; for Bramaterra PDO Riserva wines the date is moved to September 1st of the third year following that in which the grape were harvested.
