The production area of Bolgheri Sassicaia PDO is within parts of the territory of the Municipality of Castagneto Carducci in the Province of Livorno, in the Tuscany region.
Description of product typologies
Bolgheri Sassicaia PDO has an intense ruby-red or garnet colour; the nose is characterised by aromas of red fruits, opening up to reveal sweet spices, brushwood, tobacco, leather and chocolate; it is silky on the palate, displaying fine, elegant tannins, with a long, complex finish and extremely harmonious acidity. Bolgheri Sassicaia PDO can only be released for consumption after it has aged for at least two years, starting from January 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced, of which at least 18 months must have been spent in French oak barrels with a capacity of no more than 225 litres.
