Production Area
The production area of Boca PDO is within the entire territory of Boca and part of the territory of the municipalities of Maggiora, Cavallirio, Prato Sesia and Grignasco in the Province of Novara, in the Piedmont region.
Description of product typologies
Boca PDO is ruby-red with garnet reflections; the nose displays decisive fragrances of red fruit, combined with hints of aromatic herbs, delicate spices and citrusy notes; it is fresh and full on the palate, with rich fruitiness and balsamic hints enhanced by abundant tannins. Riserva can be displayed on the label if the wine has been aged for a mandatory period of 46 months, of which at least 24 in wood, commencing November 1st of the harvest year. Boca PDO wines must have been aged for a mandatory period of 34 months, of which at least 18 in wood, commencing November 1st of the harvest year. Boca PDO wines may be released for consumption from September 1st of the third year following that in which the grapes were produced; the date for Boca PDO Riserva wines is extended to September 1st of the fourth year following that of the harvest.
