The production area of Bivongi PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the provinces of Reggio Calabria and Catanzaro, in the Calabria region.
Description of product typologies
Bivongi PDO Bianco is intense straw-yellow; it displays fruity fragrances on the nose, with notes of loquat, wisteria and lilies, as well as traces of minerals; it is fresh on the palate, consistent with the nose, with good fruity persistence. Bivongi PDO Rosso is intense ruby-red mottled with crimson reflections; the nose releases fragrances of ripe blackberries, with balsamic and spicy hints on a mineral background; it is warm and smooth on the palate, with rounded tannins and fruity hints. Riserva can be displayed on the label if the wine has undergone a mandatory ageing period of at least 2 years, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were produced. Bivongi PDO Rosato is onion-skin pink, varying in intensity; the nose is vinous with floral and fresh red fruity notes; it is dry, pleasant and fruity on the palate. Bivongi PDO Novello is ruby-red, varying in intensity; it displays delicate fruity sensations on the nose; it is dry or smooth, fruity, fresh and harmonious on the palate.
