The production area of Avola PGI is within the territory of the municipalities of Avola and Siracusa in the Province of Siracusa, in the Sicily region.
Description of product typologies
Avola PGI Bianco is straw-yellow, varying in intensity; it is floral, fruity, reminiscent of white fruit, and characteristic on the nose; on the palate it is dry, fresh and smooth, with a slightly fruity flavour and a perfect balance between body and acidity. Avola PGI Rosso is ruby-red, varying in intensity depending on the grape variety; it is full on the nose, with characteristic fragrances of red fruit; it is dry and sapid on the palate, with good body and firm tannic structure. It can also be a Novello wine, which has the same organoleptic properties as the red. Avola PGI Rosato is pink, varying in intensity depending on the type of vinification and grape variety; it has a delicately fruity fragrance, with pleasant balsamic sensations; it is dry, harmonious and fresh on the palate, with fruity notes.
