The production area of Alta Langa PDO is within the territory of 151 municipalities in the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria, in the Piedmont region.
Description of product typologies
Alta Langa PDO Spumante is straw-yellow with golden reflections; the foam is very fine and the perlage persistent; it displays the light fruity notes of the base wine, spices, toasted dried fruit and bread crust on the nose; it is fresh and sapid on the palate, with a slightly bitter taste of grapefruit and a balsamic aftertaste. Riserva can be displayed on the label. Alta Langa PDO Spumante Rosato is pink, varying in intensity, with persistent and fine foam; it exhibits a fragrant and complex aroma on the nose, typical of fermentation in the bottle; it is sapid, fine and harmonious on the palate. Riserva can be displayed on the label. The secondary fermentation and ageing processes must last at least 30 months for the Alta Langa PDO Spumante and Alta Langa PDO Spumante Rosato wines, and at least 36 months for Riserva wines.
