The production area of Alba PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of Cuneo, in the Piedmont region.
Description of product typologies
Alba PDO is garnet-red in colour; the nose shows an array of fragrances, starting with fresh petals, leading to delicate hints of cherry, pomegranate and aromatic plants and finishing with a light hint of spice; these fragrances continue on the palate, with greater stress on balsamic tones and highlighted by intense tannin and a fresh and long finish. It can display Riserva on the label if it has undergone a minimum ageing period of 23 months, 12 of which must be in oak barrels, commencing November 1st of the year in which the grapes were harvested. Alba PDO can be released for consumption from May 1st of the second year after grape production and Alba PDO Riserva from November 1st of the second year after the harvest.
