The production area of Aglianico del Vulture PDO is within the territory of numerous municipalities in the Province of Potenza, in the Basilicata region.
Description of product typologies
Aglianico del Vulture PDO Rosso is dark ruby-red; the nose reveals a sensation of minerals, yielding to hints of blackberry and currant jam, juniper berries, tobacco and spicy notes; on the palate it is dense with velvety tannins and a long persistence. Aglianico del Vulture PDO Spumante Rosso ranges from ruby to garnet-red and with age it can also manifest orange reflections; it exhibits a nose of field flowers followed by fruity fragrances; the palate reveals red fruit and spices. Aglianico del Vulture Protected Designation of Origin wine cannot be released for consumption before September 1st of the year following that in which the grapes were produced. Aglianico del Vulture PDO Spumante wine must be obtained exclusively from natural fermentation in the bottle, and the production procedure must last no less than nine months.
